Rink Rocks: Terms of Use
Last updated 17 October 2026. Rink Rocks is operated by 2446883 Ontario Inc. ("we", "us"). See also the Privacy Policy.
1. What Rink Rocks is
Rink Rocks is a tool for running the music at a hockey game. We do not supply music. You bring your own audio files. The app plays them, crossfades between them, ducks them under announcements, and plays a goal song when you press the button.
By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Your account
- You must be 13 or older to hold an account, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- You can delete your account at any time, Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us. What that removes is set out in the Privacy Policy.
3. Teams, and who can see what
A team is shared. Everyone on a team can see and change that team's roster, playlists and library. A team is not personal property: if you leave a team that still has other members, the team and its contents stay with them.
A share code lets you deliberately copy one team's library across to another team, for example, if you run the music for two of your own children's teams. A share code is generated by a person, lasts 48 hours, and can be used once. Nothing is shared between teams unless somebody chooses to share it.
4. The music you upload, the important part
You are responsible for having the right to use every file you upload, and for the music being played where you play it.
We do not check, and we cannot check, whether you hold those rights.
Specifically, you confirm that:
- You own each file you upload, or you otherwise have permission to use it.
- You will not upload anything obtained by circumventing copy protection, or downloaded from a streaming service or any other source that does not permit it.
- You will not upload material that is unlawful, or that you have been told to stop using.
- You understand that playing recorded music in an arena is a public performance, which usually requires a licence held by the venue, the league or the event organiser, not by us, and not granted by this app. If you are not sure whether your rink is covered, ask the rink.
You keep ownership of what you upload. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your files, convert them so they play on every phone, and send them back to your own team's devices. That permission ends when you delete the file or your account.
5. Copyright policy, and how to report a problem
We respond to copyright complaints. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Reporting material you believe infringes your copyright
Write to copyright@marklaurin.agency and include:
- Identification of the work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material in the service you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Notices under the United States DMCA may also be sent to our designated agent, listed in the US Copyright Office's directory of designated agents.
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake
Send a counter-notice to the same address, with the material identified, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of a competent court.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that are the subject of repeated substantiated copyright complaints are terminated. We keep a record of complaints for this purpose.
6. Paid teams
- Some features require an active paid team. Payment is per team, per year.
- Prices are shown before you pay. A price you have already paid does not change during the term you paid for.
- Where you buy through the App Store or Google Play, their refund rules apply and refunds are handled by them. Where you buy directly from us, contact us.
- If a paid team lapses, your data is not deleted; the paid features simply stop.
7. What we do not promise
Rink Rocks is a tool used live, in a building, often on bad Wi-Fi. It is built to keep working offline and it is tested hard, but we do not warrant that it will be free of faults or that the music will never stop. Have a backup, a phone with a music app on it and a cable is a reasonable one.
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is", and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Acceptable use
Do not: use the service unlawfully; attempt to reach another team's data; probe, scan or overload the service; resell access; or use it to distribute music to people who have no right to it. We may suspend an account that does.
9. Changes and ending
We may change these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date, and continued use after that is acceptance. You may stop using the service at any time by deleting your account. We may end your access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, except where the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
