Rink Rocks: Privacy

Last updated 17 October 2026. Rink Rocks is operated by 2446883 Ontario Inc.

Rink Rocks is an app for running the music at a minor hockey game. This page says what it stores, why, and how to get rid of it. If something here is unclear, ask, the answer will be plainer than the policy.

What is collected

WhatWhy
Your email address and nameTo sign you in and to show teammates who is on the team.
Your profile photo, if you add oneShown to your own team only.
Team and player details you enter: team name, player names, jersey numbers, positionsThey are the app: the roster is what the goal announcements are built from.
Audio files you uploadSo your music is on your phone at the rink, including when the arena Wi-Fi is not.
Announcer clips generated for your playersPlayed when that player scores. Generated once and stored so they do not have to be paid for again.
Basic usage counts: how many songs uploaded, how many announcer clips generatedTo keep the running costs of a team in view. It is counts, not listening history.

What is not collected: no advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no analytics on what you play or when. There is no third-party tracker in the app.

The waitlist on rinkrocks.com

If you join the waitlist on rinkrocks.com, we keep your email address and anything else you chose to fill in (your name, your role, your team and where you play), the exact consent wording you agreed to and when, the page you signed up from, and a one-way scrambled version of your IP address that is used only to stop automated sign-ups. We use it to tell you when Rink Rocks opens and to send you news about it. Nothing else, and it is never sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. To be removed from the list entirely, or to see what we hold about you, email privacy@marklaurin.agency. The list is stored with Supabase alongside the app's own data.

Who it is shared with

  • Your own team. People on your team can see the team's roster, playlists and library.
  • Supabase: hosting, sign-in and file storage.
  • ElevenLabs: receives a player's name and the announcement wording in order to generate the announcer clip. Nothing else is sent.
  • A transcoding service that converts an uploaded file so it plays on every phone.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

The music you upload

Rink Rocks does not supply music. You upload files you already have, and you are responsible for having the right to use them. Playing recorded music in an arena is a public performance, and that licence normally belongs to the arena or the league, check with your rink if you are not sure.

If you believe something stored here infringes your copyright, write to the address at the bottom of this page with the work concerned, where it appears, and how to reach you, and it will be removed.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. It shows what will happen to each of your teams before you confirm, and you type DELETE to go ahead.

Without the app: email privacy@marklaurin.agency from the address you signed up with, with the subject Delete my Rink Rocks account. It will be done within 30 days and you will get confirmation when it is.

What deletion actually removes

A team is not personal property, one team can have several DJs, so each of your teams is handled separately:

  1. Teams where you are the only member are deleted outright: the roster, the playlists, the announcer clips, the DJ settings and the audio files you uploaded for that team.
  2. Teams with other members are kept and you are removed from them. The remaining members keep the roster and the music. If you were the last owner, ownership passes to the longest-standing remaining member so the team is not left with nobody who can manage it.
  3. Your sign-in details are deleted last, so that if anything goes wrong part-way, the account still exists and the rest can be finished rather than being stranded.

One deliberate exception: if an audio file you uploaded is also in use by another team, the file itself stays, because deleting it would take the music away from someone else. Your team's link to it goes.

Anonymous cost counts (how many uploads, how many clips) are kept without your account attached, because they are what the running costs of the service are measured from.

Where it is stored, and for how long

Data is held on Supabase infrastructure. It is kept while your account exists, and removed when you delete it as described above. Backups roll off within 30 days.

Children

Rink Rocks is used by adults, coaches, managers and volunteer DJs. Accounts are not intended for children under 13. Player names and jersey numbers of minors are entered by the team's own adults for use by that team, and are visible to nobody outside it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, at the email below. Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and the GDPR where it applies, those requests are answered within 30 days.
