Add your music

Open Music, then Library, and tap the plus button to upload an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or AAC). On iPhone you can also import songs you bought from your Music library. Set a Whistle Start Time on any song so it starts at the best part.

  1. Open your library

Tap Music at the bottom, then Library. Three tabs sit along the top: Music for songs, Sound Effects for horns, buzzers and whistles, and Custom for intros and other one-off audio.

  2. Upload a song

Tap the + button, then Tap to select audio file. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and AAC all work.

The title and artist fill in from the file. Anything 30 seconds or shorter is treated as a sound effect, so your goal horn sorts itself. Tap Upload.

On iPhone in Chrome? If the file picker won't show your music, use Safari or pick the file from the Files app.

  3. Or import from your iPhone Music library

Go to Settings and tap Import from your Music library. Allow access, tap Check my library, and then Import on each song you want.

Songs you bought work. Apple Music subscription songs can't be imported, because Apple locks them to the Music app.

  4. Set where each song starts

Tap any song in your library. Under Whistle Start Time, tap the waveform or use the nudge buttons to land on the moment you want, and play it to check. Tap Save Changes.

The start time is used during the game, so every whistle drops straight into the good part. Pregame songs always play from the top.

  5. Where your music comes from

Rink Rocks plays music you already own. Buy tracks from a store like iTunes or Amazon, or use a DJ record pool. Look for the clean version of any song with lyrics. It's a kids' rink.

Playing music in public is covered by the rink's music licence (in Canada that's SOCAN and Re:Sound, often through Entandem). Most arenas already have one. Ask your rink if you're not sure.
